From the Ashes:  One Homeowner's Story

In 2014 a beloved local teacher's home  - the home she grew up in that had once belonged to her parents - caught fire.  The blaze severely damaged the home and left it badly in need of repairs.  As a special project, Under One Roof completely renovated the laundry room, kitchen, dining room and living areas including sheetrock, painting, electrical, HVAC and more.

Featured Project 1

During a big storm, a tree fell on this house belonging to a couple in their eighties.  UOR used the existing foundation to create a deck and added a ramp for easy access.

Featured Project 2

A bathroom in a Seabrook home received much needed repairs.

Featured Project 3

UOR completed a project begun by the homeowner to give their wheelchair-bound son an accessible bathroom.  We replaced a leaky roof, removed a bee infestation, replaced bad insulation, sheetrock and more.

Featured Project 4

With no ramp, the wheelchair-bound woman in this home had to have her husband carry her down the stairs.  On Easter Sunday, she was sitting in her wheelchair on her deck when it collapsed, requiring a one-month stay at the hospital in Charleston.  When she returned, UOR had replaced the deck and installed a new ramp, giving her wheelchair access to her home for the first time.

Featured Project 5

This homeowner was captive in their home, wheelchair-bound with no ramp.  UOR removed both stairwells from the back of the house, moved one to the front and installed a new ramp off the back porch.

Featured Project 6

The bathroom in this home was in danger of falling through to the ground below due to rotten subfloors.  UOR patched the floor, replaced the tub with a walk-in shower and put in a new toilet, plumbing lines, grab bars and paint.
