The bathroom in this home was in danger of falling through to the ground below due to rotten sub floors.  UOR patched the floor, replaced the tub with a walk-in shower and put in a new toilet, plumbing lines, grab bars and paint.  Completed 2015.

The wife in this home was wheelchair bound, with no way to leave unless her husband carried her down the stairs.  On Easter Sunday, she was on the deck in her wheelchair when the deck collapsed, leaving her with injuries that required a one-month stay at the hospital in Charleston.  When she returned, UOR had replaced the deck and installed a new ramp, giving her wheelchair access to her home for the first time.  Completed Easter 2014, with assistance from the homeowner.  A portion of the project materials was donated by the Franciscan Center.

The homeowner had previously begun an additional bathroom for a wheelchair-bound child in the home, but the project was never completed and the add-on had fallen into disrepair.  UOR replaced a leaky roof, removed a bee infestation, replaced bad insulation, sheetrock and more to make the bathroom usable and accessible.  A partnership with LCOG (Lowcountry Council of Governments), completed late 2014.

One of the residents in this home was wheelchair bound, but had no ramp that would allow them to leave the house.  UOR removed both stairwells from the back of the house, moved one to the front, and installed a ramp off of the back porch. Completed Thanksgiving 2012 with assistance from neighbors and Volunteers.

In the fall of 2015, a tree fell on this house during one of our big rain and wind storms.  The husband & wife (in their 80's) had the tree and sun room removed but were not able to make any repairs.  We used the existing foundation to construct a deck with railing and added a ramp for easier access.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Project Sponsor Grayco. Grayco donated the construction materials for this project and is always a generous supporter of the work performed by Beaufort non-profits.  Thank you Grayco!
